Selecting a corona treater comes down to four core parameters: web width, line speed, power and single/double side.
1. Web Width (Treatment Width)
Width must be ≥ your maximum material width. Common sizes: 300 mm, 800 mm, 1200 mm, 1600 mm, 2000 mm, 2500 mm. Choose slightly wider to allow for future material changes.
2. Line Speed
Line speed determines whether the treater can keep up with your line. Printing presses typically run 100–300 m/min; coating lines may run faster. Provide your maximum line speed and we will match electrode length and power.
3. How to Estimate Power
Recommended power density: 10–20 W/(m²/min) for print grade; 20–30 for demanding applications (water-based ink, lamination).
Quick formula:Power (W) = density × width (m) × line speed (m/min)
Example: width 1.2 m, speed 150 m/min, density 15:15 × 1.2 × 150 = 2700 W → choose 3 kW
4. Single or Double Side?
- Single side: single-side printing/coating, lower cost
- Double side: double-sided printing/lamination, 2× throughput
5. In-line or Offline
For new lines, an in-line system is recommended for treat-and-print. Existing lines can add an in-line unit or use a standalone offline treater.
6. Don’t Forget
- Power supply: 380V/50Hz
- Cooling: air/water — choose water for continuous production
- After-sales: installation, commissioning and training
