In-line Double-Side Corona for Foil Coating
Background & Challenge
A functional-materials company producing pharmaceutical aluminum foil needed double-sided coating. The original process suffered peeling and uneven adhesion, with a defect rate near 5%.
Solution
We installed a 1.2 m double-side corona treater with synchronized top/bottom discharge, integrated ahead of the coater; power 2×8 kW, line speed 50–120 m/min.
Results
- Coating adhesion improved to 5B (cross-hatch test)
- Peeling defects fell to 0.8%
- Both sides treated in one pass — 2× efficiency
