Case Study
Double-Side Inline Corona for Battery Aluminum Foil
Background & Challenge
A battery aluminum foil manufacturer (supplier of positive current collector material for EV power batteries) needed double-side corona treatment of 1060 alloy, 12 μm foil to meet surface tension requirements before coating. The previous process reached only 28 dyne, causing uneven slurry adhesion and high powder drop-off during coating.
Solution
We installed a 1.6 m double-side inline corona system with synchronized top/bottom discharge integrated ahead of the coating line; 90 kW, line speed 150 m/min, PLC auto-tracking of line speed with real-time power regulation. Arc-proof, low-damage electrodes protect the ultra-thin 12 μm foil from edge arcing and scorching.
Results
- Dyne level raised from 28 to a stable 42
- Coating powder drop-off reduced by 15%
- Both sides treated in one pass — no line stoppage
